Something like this happened to my iTouch. First, try using a different USB port. If that dowsn't work, try restarting your iPod. If THIS doesn't work, contact Apple. If this doesn't work, you will have to restore it. Hold the home and sleep buttons for about 20 seconds, or until the connect to iTunes picture comes up. Hope this helps.
